Disney's live-action Snow White arrives carrying more baggage than a royal carriage. The question conservative viewers want answered is simple: is the finished product as aggressively ideological as the marketing suggested? The honest answer is yes, but it is more complicated than a simple thumbs-down.

Rachel Zegler can sing. That much is beyond dispute. Gal Gadot is having a grand time as the Evil Queen, chewing scenery with campy relish. The production design is lavish.

But the film's problems run deeper than its surface polish. The central project of this Snow White is demolition. Not adaptation. Not updating. Demolition. Snow White has been rewritten from a character defined by kindness into a character defined by empowerment. The rebellion storyline replaces the romance as the central plot engine. Snow White organizes a resistance movement. The climax is a political uprising. It is less fairy tale and more young-adult dystopian franchise.

The dwarfs situation perfectly encapsulates Disney's ideological confusion. After Peter Dinklage criticized the concept, Disney replaced them with CGI magical beings rather than casting actors with dwarfism. The result pleases nobody.

The box office told the story. At $206 million worldwide against a $270 million budget, Snow White qualifies as a genuine box office bomb.

Conservative viewers should know that true love's kiss survives. The Evil Queen is genuinely evil and defeated by her own vanity. Kindness and inner beauty matter in the climax. But they exist within a framework so thoroughly overhauled that they feel like survivors of a demolition rather than foundations of a story.
